“Okay, so this just happened! After devotions, I like to sing/teach Olivia a hymn or two but today she wasn’t into it that much. So I suggested I would sing and as she listened she could color a picture showing what she was feeling. I sang my song, went in to clean up the kitchen and didn’t think about it again.”
“A little later she came in and asked for some tape. Then a few more minutes came and asked for wrapping paper. I didn’t have any but gave her a gift bag. I asked her what she was up to and she said she was giving God a gift!”
“She asked how much could she give Him so I said God will take everything you are willing to give Him. She went back to it and for several minutes kept adding to the bag. The whole time I’m ovserving and feeling my heart melt. Then she walks into the mud room to ve alone (but I’m eavesdropping lol) and this is what I hear: “God I packed everything you love. It’s a present for you. I hope you like it.” I’m about to bawl my eyes out! So here’s what ministered to me: WHAT IF WE GAVE GOD OUT BEST INSTEAD OF OUR MESS! Perhaps our lives, our country, our world would be in a much different place than we are currently in.”
This post brought tears to my eyes and chills on my arms. I want this little girls heart to be my heart. I began to pray, “Lord, I give you my heart, mind, and body, that I never forget to love you and want to give you Your favorite things.”
What do you think are God’s favorite things?
As I read the true story above, my thoughts were:
- God loves our fellowship. That’s why He created us. He wants to sit with us quietly and discuss our needs and His majesty and love for us.
- God wants our love for Himself and others.
Matthew 22:37-39 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
God’s favorites? Us! We are God’s favorites. Our love for Him, our love for others.
