The Fabric of Time

I meandered life constructing stitches on the go;
Not a knowing wither I’ve been, forging where to sew.
Swiftly going forward, into fragile fabric of time.

Stitches go this way and many stitches go that way;
Curvy, bent, and up and down the stitches go and sway.
Slow and quickly they do chime, and over the fabric of time.

Not to be undone, all stitches here and stitches there;
Ponder hard, think twice, and stitch all stitches with a prayer.
Never regress, stitching forward through the fabric of time.

Colors into stitches, comments kind, and adding smiles;
Helping life-long friends and stitches stretching by the miles.
Stitches long and added, to the crafted fabric of time.

Stitches jagged, rough and dark; the trials do abound.
Up and down is life and stitching goes around and ‘round.
Brilliant stitching, fast-accomplished through the fabric of time.

Family happy, children content, stitching oh the joy!
Nourished, sleeping, tidy dwelling; stitching thrills enjoy.
Spouse approves the ‘ventures, through the growing fabric of time.

Prayers and comfort abound and help a friend assure.
For the Lord, a friend is won; these stitches will endure.
Stunning stitches added, to the larger fabric of time.

Laying, resting…death has me beneath the maple tree.
Through the pearly gate, the Lord has turned and I can see.
My tapestry spun with stitches, in the fabric of time.

Speaks his voice so gently, tells about the grand detail;
‘Mazing beauty in all trials, spun by life, full-scale.
For all eternity hangs,
My tapestry spun with stitches, in the fabric of time.

I was born in 1967 and I have been living in sunny Whakatane, New Zealand since Christmas 2010. My husband pastors a church and it has been a delight living in New Zealand. We both are originally from Maryland, USA. I have been amazed at the beautiful landscapes and stunning wildlife, especially the birds in New Zealand. Many of the native birds visit our modest yard on a daily basis. I was blessed at one time to have several aviaries with finches. In 2021, I had surgery to remove my appendix which was filled with cancer and then breast cancer surgery and radiation. It was an interesting year. Prior to my surgeries, my husband had two back surgeries. I'm glad God knows best even if I do not understand all he is doing. In 2022, for 6 months, I traveled to the US to put my youngest daughter into college in Arizona. People I met, during this trip, spiritually lifted me up in ways they will never understand. I'm glad God is in control of everything. Resting, gardening, and reading my Bible are cherished pastimes. It gets my mind off everything. We all need those places we can go and get our minds off everything. A place that is encouraging and comforting and at the same time give a little pricking of the heart to keep us trying our best to serve the Lord. I hope this Blog will be such a place for you. A place to find encouragement and comfort along with a few smiles.

  1. Very good! Some people will be very surprised at how shabby their eternity will be because they did not think this life made any difference.

  2. Some people might be surprised the other way also. All the little things we do for Christ, that we think do not matter, they do. Some day Christ will reward us for all our efforts. For efforts big and small there will be rewards. For each prayer, each class taught, a friend helped, each service attended, etc. etc. No small thing goes unnoticed by the Lord. People here don’t notice things or people unless something is big and famous or well known. But God, notices the little unsung heroes of the faith.

    1. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. You have always been such a blessing to me. I have thought of you and prayed for you often over the years. Your wisdom and encouragement goes around the world.
