{"id":1168,"date":"2021-10-08T09:57:39","date_gmt":"2021-10-07T20:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/?p=1168"},"modified":"2021-10-08T09:57:39","modified_gmt":"2021-10-07T20:57:39","slug":"a-brazen-request-to-be-judged-by-god","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/2021\/10\/08\/a-brazen-request-to-be-judged-by-god\/","title":{"rendered":"A Brazen Request to be Judged by God"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Psalm 43:1-5<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em>1 <\/em><\/strong><em>&#8220;<\/em><em>Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong>2<\/strong> &#8220;<\/em><em>For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?&#8221;<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong>3<\/strong> &#8220;<\/em><em>O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em><strong>4<\/strong> &#8220;<\/em><em>Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><em>5 <\/em><\/strong><em>&#8220;<\/em><em>Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Just a short thought about David.\u00a0 The Bible says that we have ALL gone astray.\u00a0 So, knowing it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of an angry God, why would David actually ask God to judge him, knowing he was a sinful man?\u00a0 \u00a0 I think it goes back to several things.<\/p>\n<p>David was weary of all that was going on around him.\u00a0 Have you become weary in the past year with all the evil going on around the world?\u00a0 Do you feel helpless to do anything and see the enemy getting by with so much evil and wickedness?\u00a0 David could see this happening, as well!\u00a0 He turned to God, such as we should.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><u>First \u2013 David asked God to judge him.<\/u><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>David was asking for forgiveness for whatever might be affecting his life.\u00a0 He wanted a clean heart.\u00a0 Many ask God for forgiveness but then they drag that sin around like a dead horse!\u00a0 They cannot trust God to fully forgive them.\u00a0 Whether that sin is something we categorize as &#8220;big&#8221;\u00a0 or categorize as something insignificant, in God&#8217;s eyes, sin is sin.\u00a0 He does not provide more or less forgiveness because of the &#8220;size&#8221; of the sin.\u00a0 True, some sins will have lasting implications but God will forgive all sin.\u00a0 We can leave it at the Cross and lighten our burden.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><u>Secondly \u2013 David knew God would be fair, if not even merciful and save his reputation.<\/u><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>How could David have a right attitude towards others in the midst of a wicked country?\u00a0 Some people do not feel worthy of God&#8217;s forgiveness.\u00a0 They might not even ask God to forgive them!\u00a0 This is actually a matter of reversed pride, a &#8220;<u>Humble Brag&#8221;<\/u>! \u00a0 No one&#8217;s sin or problems are too great to come before the Lord.\u00a0 The Bible commands us to do so.\u00a0 To deny God the privilege of working in our heart, shuts us off from His fellowship.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><u>Thirdly \u2013 David had sinned before and he knew the consequences of his sin.<\/u><\/span><\/h5>\n<p>David also knew how fragile he was.\u00a0 He knew he could not lead a perfect life; none of us can.\u00a0 Obviously, others knew of David&#8217;s imperfect walk and could easily throw that in his face.\u00a0 BUT, he also knew that life always brings temptations and the adverse doings of others that we have no control over.\u00a0 He was learning how to deal with them!\u00a0 He knew that God&#8217;s mercies were new every morning.\u00a0 He knew that, with God&#8217;s help, he could have a clean and righteous heart each day, free from carrying his fears, exhaustion towards evil men, and his own inconsistencies from the day before.<\/p>\n<p>By asking God to judge him, it was a way of saying, &#8220;God, here are the reigns of my heart!\u00a0 You know more than I do where I need correcting.\u00a0 Let me be submitted to you today to whittle away what needs to go and what I need to improve on.&#8221;.\u00a0 David could not wield the minds and actions of others but he could turn his life over to the Lord to use him as God saw fit to carry out his purpose.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\">In conclusion<\/span>, David knew that he could trust God to bring him victory in every circumstance.\u00a0 He trusted God to save him from the ignorance and the lies of others.<\/p>\n<p>Never forget that when we give God the reigns of our attitude and stubbornness, He will protect us and lead us.\u00a0 We can welcome God&#8217;s judgement because, like David,\u00a0 our heart will be ready to receive His guidance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Psalm 43:1-5 1 &#8220;Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.&#8221; 2 &hellip; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":935,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5],"tags":[208,363,191,56],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1168"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/4"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1168"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1168\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1169,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1168\/revisions\/1169"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/935"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1168"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1168"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sonbeamsandshadows.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1168"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
