The following thought I discussed with my husband to make sure I was on track with understanding a very common passage of scripture:<\/p>\n

Please read Genesis 3:1-8<\/p>\n

For sake of space, I will just focus on a few verses.<\/p>\n

Genesis 3:2-3 and 6<\/p>\n

2 \u201cAnd the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Through this brief study, \u201cthe tree of the knowledge of good and evil.\u201d<\/em> Gen. 2:17 I will just reference as \u201cthe tree.\u201d<\/p>\n

New Thought:<\/p>\n

First – Eve was not at \u201cthe tree\u201d when Satan came to temp her.<\/span><\/h5>\n

I think she was somewhere else in the garden, working, and minding her own business. Why do I think this?<\/p>\n

  • In v3 the Bible says, \u201cBut of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst<\/u> of the garden\u2026\u201d<\/em>\n
      \n
    • If Eve was standing at \u201cthe tree\u201d I believe this passage would say something like \u201cBut of the fruit of the tree which is here<\/u> in the garden\u2026\u201d or But, of the fruit of this tree<\/u> which is in the garden\u2026\u201d or some other wording that would let us know Eve was standing next to \u201cthe tree.\u201d Instead, the wording is very specific and says, \u201cin the midst of the garden.\u201d <\/em>I would use similar wording if I was in one place of my garden and referenced another location in my garden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Also, in v6 the Bible says, \u201cAnd when the woman saw that the tree was good for food\u2026\u201d<\/em>\n
        \n
      • If Eve was standing at \u201cthe tree\u201d I believe this passage would say something like \u201cAnd while the woman beheld <\/u>that the tree\u2026\u201d or \u201cAnd while the woman was looking upon<\/u> the tree\u2026\u201d As preachers have preached over the years, God\u2019s wording is very specific even in the smallest of words.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        In a short summary, I do not believe Eve was at \u201cthe tree\u201d but instead, was minding her own business and tending to the garden the day Satan tempted her.<\/p>\n

        Second \u2013 Why is this even important?<\/span><\/h5>\n

        This is so important to help us in our daily walk with the Lord. Since Eve was:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • not at \u201cthe tree\u201d and since we can see<\/span><\/li>\n
        • she was minding her own business and tending to the garden and<\/span><\/li>\n
        • since she doing what is right the day Satan came \u2013<\/span><\/li>\n
        • we can see Satan comes to us right where we are and<\/span><\/li>\n
        • when we are not expecting it and<\/span><\/li>\n
        • when we are minding our own business and<\/span><\/li>\n
        • when we are trying to do what is right.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          This brought to mind the familiar passage of scripture:<\/p>\n

          I Peter 5:8 \u201cBe sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

          If we are aware of Satan\u2019s devises, it will be easier to withstand and resist him.<\/p>\n

          I think we tend to think:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • If I don\u2019t walk into a bar\/pub, Satan won\u2019t bother me<\/span><\/li>\n
          • If I don\u2019t hang with the wrong crowd, Satan won\u2019t bother me<\/span><\/li>\n
          • If I don\u2019t\u2026\u2026<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            But in all reality, we should probably be thinking:<\/p>\n

              \n
            • Here I am going to church, watch out Satan will tempt me<\/span><\/li>\n
            • Here I am reading my Bible, watch out Satan will tempt me<\/span><\/li>\n
            • My child is alone in his\/her own room, they can\u2019t get into trouble there, watch out Satan will tempt them<\/span><\/li>\n
            • I\u2019m minding my own business, doing my housecleaning, watch out Satan will tempt me<\/span><\/li>\n
            • I\u2019m on the computer just chatting with friends, watch out Satan will temp me<\/span><\/li>\n
            • etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              In conclusion, Satan came to where Eve was working and while she was minding her own business. Satan will come to where we are and while we are minding our own business.<\/p>\n

              So \u2013 Beware!<\/span><\/h1>\n
